| Seven-time Grammy Award winners, Metallica are set to play a
full tour of the UK for the first time since October 1996. The
heavy metal band are back in the UK after a brief visit this
September where they played an intimate show in front of 300
competition winners at the BBC Radio Theatre and a fans-only
show at London’s 02 Arena. 2009 sees Metallica return to the UK
for a longer period when they embark on a full scale arena tour
to include a much bigger performance at the fabulous O2 Arena.
The band recently released their 12th album in a 27 year career which marked their unprecedented reign as THE greatest hard rock band in history. ‘Death Magnetic’ reached the No. 1 slot in 32 countries and stormed to the top of the UK charts where it remained for 2 weeks, making their estimated total record sales at over 100 million worldwide. Following on from their enormously popular fans-only charity gig at The O2 in September, Metallica are set to play a full tour of the UK for the first time since October 1996, including another night at The O2 on Monday 2 March 2009. They will be performing in the round and tickets will go on sale at 9am this Friday October 24th. Supporting will be Machine Head and The Sword.

Metallica have just been nominated for two awards at the forthcoming MTV Europe awards for the "Rock Out" and "Headliner" categories.
